


DAY 1: BRISBANE TO ROMA (APPROX 504KM / 5 HR 20 MIN)
Travel north-west from Brisbane along the Warrego Highway to Queensland’s Garden City, Toowoomba. Stop for morning tea at Picnic Point, best known for its expansive views across the Great Dividing Range. Continue along the Adventure Way to Chinchilla, home of the Chinchilla Melon Festival and Miles, a vibrant rural township. Arrive in Roma the heart of beef country late afternoon with time to check-in and refresh at your accommodation ready for our fabulous Welcome Dinner at the newly opened Western Queensland Spirit. Located on a 55-acre property just outside of Roma, this former citrus and grape farm is now the base for the region’s first craft distillery. DAY 2: ROMA
Feel the energy of a real cattle auction (Tuesdays only) at Australia’s largest cattle selling facility, the Roma Saleyards, where on any given day up to 7,000 head of cattle pass through the ring. Join a retired grazier for an insider’s view of the saleyards, including entry to the multi-media Interpretive Centre. Spend time with a local guide from Boobook Ecotours for an engaging town tour, uncovering the colourful history and characters of Roma. Visit Heroes Avenue, the Biggest Bottle Tree and the Roma Bush Gardens, while hearing stories of First Nations heritage, early pioneers, cattle duffers and explorers. Gain insight into the industries that continue to shape the region today, including agriculture, timber, wine, oil and gas. Enjoy some free time this afternoon to relax at your accommodation or explore downtown Roma. Tonight, celebrate the legacy of Roma’s pioneering oil and gas industry at the The Big Rig. Join a Roma Rigger guide at the base of the towering 1920s steam-driven rig, hear the stories behind the boom years and toast the sunset with a glass of regional port. Then take your seats for the immersive Sound and Light Show. Dinner tonight will be at your accommodation.
DAY 3: ROMA TO CHARLEVILLE (APPROX 267KM / 2 HR 52 MIN)
Travel west from Roma towards Charleville, with a special stop at Massey Downs Station where a local guide from Boobook Explore joins your coach. Visit this working cattle property with exclusive access to the stunning four-acre homestead garden, wandering along winding paths through native and exotic plantings, ponds and sculptures while spotting local wildlife. Continue on to Charleville, arriving in time for lunch and the History & Stories Tour at the iconic Hotel Corones. Discover behind-the-scenes spaces and hear captivating tales that bring this legendary outback hotel’s colourful past to life. This afternoon, visit the Bilby Experience for an up-close encounter with these rare and fascinating creatures, and learn about vital conservation efforts. In the evening, head to the Charleville Cosmos Centre for a Big Sky Twilight Stargazing Experience, where powerful telescopes and expert guides reveal the brilliance of the outback night sky.

DAY 4: CHARLEVILLE
This morning, visit the Outback Date Farm, home to more than 450 date palms thriving under an innovative reclaimed water irrigation system. On a guided tour, learn about the history and production of dates, along with their many health benefits, followed by a relaxed morning tea featuring their signature date loaf. Return to town where a local guide joins your coach for the fascinating WWII Secrets Tour, uncovering why Charleville became a top-secret USAAF base and exploring remnants of this little-known chapter of history. Enjoy free time for lunch before an afternoon visit to the Historic House Museum, offering a glimpse into the region’s pioneering past through its collection of artefacts and stories. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore Charleville or relax before another evening in this welcoming outback town.
DAY 5: CHARLEVILLE TO QUILPIE (APPROX 211KM / 2HR 50 MIN)
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your accommodation before departing Charleville and travelling west towards Quilpie. Along the way, pass through Cooladdi—one of the smallest towns in Australia to retain its own postcode. On arrival in Quilpie, your first stop is the Visitor Information Centre, where there’s time to explore the onsite museums and Art Gallery. You’ll then be joined by a local guide for an entertaining town tour packed with insider stories and pioneering history, including visits to St Finbarr’s Opal Altar and Baldy Top Lookout for sweeping Channel Country views. Just outside of town, continue to The Lake Quilpie for lunch. Set on a 2,500-acre sheep, cattle and Kalahari goat property, this unique outback destination features a stunning natural lake. After lunch, travel approximately one hour to Toogunna Plains Farmstay, a 5th-generation sheep and cattle property in the heart of the Channel Country. Settle into your ensuite cabins before joining the Kyra Sandhills at Sunset tour, where drinks and canapés are served against a backdrop of rolling red dunes. Return to the homestead for a paddock-to-plate dinner under the outback stars.

DAY 7: TOOGUNNA FARMSTAY TO THARGOMINDAH (APPROX 280KM / 3HR 6MIN)
Follow the Cooper Developmental Road as it skirts the edge of Queensland’s Southern Outback, then take the turnoff for the historic Noccundra Hotel for morning tea. Look closely at the sandstone walls of this 1882 construction. The sandstone was quarried in New South Wales and transported by Camel Train to its present location. You have to ponder the logistics of this! From the hotel it’s then about 1.5 hours to Thargomindah on the banks of the Bulloo River. Join a local guide for a town tour with great local stories and insights. Relive moments of yesteryear at the Old Jail and Old Thargomindah Hospital courtesy of life-size holographics and interactive experiences. Discover the story behind Australia’s first town to produce hydro-electric power for street lighting at the Artesian Hydro Power Plant and step out on the viewing deck for a spectacular outback sunset with nibbles. DAY 8: THARGOMINDAH TO CUNNAMULLA (APPROX 197KM / 2HR 4MIN)
Travel east to Eulo, often described as the ‘Montville of the Outback’. Enjoy a pub lunch at the iconic Eulo Queen Hotelbefore time to explore the town’s small collection of local shops. Browse opals and artwork at the Telegraph House Gallery, pick up handcrafted leather goods or sample locally produced honey. Don’t miss a photo with Kenny the life-size Diprotodon, a nod to the region’s megafauna past. Continue on to Cunnamulla, arriving mid-afternoon. Visit the Cunnamulla Fella Visitor Information Centre to experience the Artesian Time Tunnel, bringing the region’s stories to life through immersive displays.Check in to your accommodation and enjoy time to relax before an easy stroll to the Cunnamulla Hot Springs. Unwind with a sunset soak in naturally heated artesian waters, flowing through a series of mineral-rich pools designed for relaxation and wellness. DAY 9: CUNNAMULLA
After breakfast, a fourth-generation local guide from Out The Back Australia joins your coach for a guided tour of Cunnamulla and surrounds. Discover the region’s unique sand dunes, hear stories of its First Nations heritage, early pioneers and colourful characters, and gain a deeper understanding of life in this remote outback community. Continue to a nearby private property for a station visit and garden experience. Today you’ll visit Francvillers Station, a 50,000-acre sheep and cattle property, where you’ll enjoy a relaxed garden walk and morning tea while learning how practical design and resilience shape outback living. Lunch is served at the station, offering a genuine connection to life on the land. Return to Cunnamulla early afternoon with optional time to revisit the Cunnamulla Hot Springs for another soak or simply relax back at your accommodation. Later, step into local history at the All Aboard Cunnamulla, an engaging light and sound experience that brings the town’s railway stories to life. Dinner this evening is back at Club Boutique Hotel, with live music adding to the outback atmosphere.
DAY 10: CUNNAMULLA TO ST GEORGE (APPROX. 293KM / 3HR 14MIN)
Depart Cunnamulla after breakfast and travel east along the Adventure Way towards St George, making a short stop in Bollon to visit the Nullawokka First Nations Gallery. Take time to explore this unique space showcasing local First Nations art and stories, offering insight into the region’s cultural heritage. Continue on to St George, arriving in time for lunch at Riversands Wines. Enjoy a relaxed meal before a guided vineyard tour, learning about wine production in this unexpected outback setting along the Balonne River. This evening, unwind on a sunset cruise with Sandytown River Cruises. Drift along the tranquil Balonne River as the colours of the outback sky come to life, accompanied by stories of the river and the region.
DAY 11: ST GEORGE TO BRISBANE (APPROX 551KM / 5HR 59MIN)
Travel south east along the Carnarvon Highway to Nindigully and call into the famous Nindigully Pub, the longest continually licensed pub in Queensland for morning tea. Continue east along the Barwon Highway to Goondiwindi then take the Gore Highway to Toowoomba. From there you’ll re-join the Warrego Highway back to Brisbane.
